Testimonial, Endorsement, & Social Proof Policy
Effective 8/18/2026
1. Purpose
This policy governs all testimonials, reviews, ratings, counters, press mentions, logos, and other social proof displayed on VPV Group properties or in VPV Group marketing. It implements the FTC Act, the FTC Endorsement Guides (16 C.F.R. Part 255), and the FTC Rule on Consumer Reviews and Testimonials.
2. Hard Rules (no exceptions)
- No fabricated proof. No invented testimonials, fake reviewers, AI-generated "customer" quotes, placeholder counters presented as real metrics, or purchased fake reviews. Every testimonial must come from a real, identifiable person with documented consent on file.
- No unearned press logos. Media logos (e.g., Fast Company, Inc., Forbes, Entrepreneur) may be displayed only with a documented, linkable article or feature genuinely about VPV Group, Future.dev, or Meet Dream — not contributor posts by VPV Group personnel presented as editorial coverage, and not "as seen in" placements based on ads. All currently unverified logos and counters must be removed before scaling traffic.
- Substantiation file. Before publication, each testimonial or metric must have: the source's name and contact, written consent, the verbatim original statement, and evidence supporting any factual or results claim in it.
- Typicality. Results-based testimonials (revenue, launch speed, savings) must reflect results the typical customer can expect, or be accompanied by a clear and conspicuous disclosure of the generally expected results. "Results not typical" alone is not sufficient.
- Material connections disclosed. Any testimonial from a person with a material connection (affiliate, investor, employee, discounted or free service, contest entry) must disclose that connection clearly and conspicuously adjacent to the testimonial.
- No review suppression or gating. We do not condition incentives on positive reviews, selectively solicit only likely-positive reviewers in public review displays, suppress or edit negative reviews in displays presented as representative, or use contract terms that restrict truthful reviews (Consumer Review Fairness Act).
- Edits. Testimonials may be shortened for length only, without changing meaning; edited versions require the source's approval if the edit is more than trivial.
- Currency. Testimonials older than 24 months, or from customers whose experience predates a material product change, must be re-verified or retired.
3. Platform Reviews (Future.dev)
Client ratings of Developers displayed on the platform must reflect genuine, unmanipulated submissions. VPV Group may remove reviews violating law or the review guidelines but will not remove reviews merely for being negative. Developers and Clients may not offer incentives for reviews or retaliate for them.
4. Metrics & Counters
"Founders building," subscriber counts, projects shipped, and similar counters may display only measured, current, reproducible numbers with a documented methodology. Rounding is permitted ("1,200+"); inflation is not.
5. Approval & Records
Marketing may not publish new social proof without sign-off from the policy owner (Founder or designee). Substantiation files are retained for at least five (5) years after last use.
6. Violations
Non-compliant proof is removed immediately on discovery; repeat internal violations are escalated to leadership. External partners (affiliates, agencies) violating this policy are subject to termination under their agreements.
